Flushing CSA (Week 13) Update!

Hard to believe we’ve reached the half way point for the 2019 season! It’s been a great one so far!  More tomatoes (red and sungold cherry) this week – 4+ lbs for everyone!  Peppers this week too and we may get kohlrabi – it’s in rotation.

Fruit shares for those who get them. If you have a fruit share but your share partner didn’t sign up for one, please tell the volunteer that you are getting it so that your partner also does not take one by mistake. Lewis Waite delivery this week.

Red Tomatoes
Let them ripen on the counter until fully red!
Storage: On the counter until they ripen to a uniform red color. Then eat right away. If you store your tomatoes in the fridge, they will become mealy. No good. Uses: Raw When to use: Immediately once fully red.

Yellow Potatoes
Beautiful waxy variety – great for potato salads and roasted!
Storage: In a cool, DARK, dry spot. Uses: Cooked When to use: Within 7 days

Sungold Cherry Tomatoes
Storage: On the counter until they ripen to a uniform orange color. Then eat right away. If you store your tomatoes in the fridge, they will become mealy. No good. Uses: Raw When to use: Immediately once fully orange.

Green Frying Peppers
Storage: In an airtight container/bag in the refrigerator. Uses: Cooked When to use: Within 5 days.

Zucchini
Storage: Inn airtight container/bag in the refrigerator. Uses: Cooked When to use: Within 3 days.

Kohlrabi – IN ROTATION!
Storage: In an airtight container/bag in the refrigerator. Uses: Raw/Cooked When to use: Within 7 days.
